GEOGRAPHY AND ATMOSPHERE
A Valley Shaped by Time.
Carved by the retreating glaciers of the last Ice Age, Fex Valley stretches southward from Sils, nestled in the heart of the Upper Engadin at an altitude of 1,800 to 2,300 meters. Flanked by the majestic Bernina Alps, this high alpine valley remains untouched by modern chaos. Cars are not allowed beyond a certain point—guests and locals alike arrive on foot, by bicycle, or by horse-drawn carriage. The result? A living landscape preserved in silence, where the natural rhythm of earth and sky guides every step.

From June to early September, the valley becomes a vibrant canvas of color and scent. Rare alpine wildflowers such as edelweiss, gentians, and alpine roses bloom among the meadows, nourished by glacial runoff and traditional farming practices that go back centuries.
These aren’t just flowers—they are signs of a delicate, ancient ecosystem at work. In winter, most lie dormant beneath the snow, while mosses and evergreen pines stand resilient, painting the valley in subtle shades of endurance.
FAUNA
The Silent Inhabitants of Fex.
The valley’s true residents rarely make a sound. Alpine ibexes balance on sheer cliffs. Chamois navigate mountain ledges with grace. Marmots whistle from burrows, and red deer emerge at dusk to graze on open slopes. Above, golden eagles and bearded vultures circle silently.
